This page provides a compilation of key legislation in the area of criminal law and criminal procedural law. This includes legislation governing the work of the police, the security forces and the army, which contains relevant provisions, such as on powers of arrest and detention, criminal offences, special courts and immunity. The Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the Interim National Constitution are included as they provide the legal yardstick for any statutory law. The same applies to international treaties to which Sudan is a state party as Sudan is responsible for the compatibility of its legislation (and practical application) with the rights and obligations contained therein. The compilation includes older pieces of legislation, where available, for ease of comparison. Relevant legislation will be added to this page as appropriate and we would welcome receiving any legal texts, including bills.
