Introduction

The objective of criminal law reform in Sudan is to ensure conformity with the bill of rights and to advance the rule of law. Prime issues of concern are therefore provisions, or the lack thereof, that constitute or result in serious violations of human rights and/or undermine fundamental precepts of criminal justice. This includes the lack of accountability of officials and fair trials. The Project has identified human rights and criminal law, impunity and gender crimes as priorities in this context.
